There's nothing better than sun, sand, and waves for a great day out. But if you're heading to the beach with your baby, you'll want to be fully prepared.
We have put together the perfect list for you.
BABY SUNSCREEN
Sunscreen for babies is only recommended after six months, as baby skin is extremely sensitive. Before that, it's important to keep your little ones in the shade and protect them with sun-protective clothing. This will keep your baby nice and cool and prevent sunburn.
As soon as your child is old enough, you can start using sunscreen. For optimal protection, you should let the cream absorb into the skin about 20-30 minutes before sun exposure.
The motto here is: the higher the SPF, the better. Look for special sunscreen for babies and toddlers, as young skin has special needs.
UMBRELLA / TENT / CABANA
Which shade provider you prefer is up to you. However, there should definitely be a shady spot for the little ones. There are now great pop-up tents that can be set up in seconds and provide instant shade.
SWIMWEAR
Despite all the shade and sunscreen, you should also consider wearing swimwear with SPF when diving into the cool water. This way, your child can play in the sun a little longer without getting burned.
There are great swim shorts and T-shirts, you're sure to find them on Amazon .
Mesh beach bag
Wow, there are thousands of beautiful and practical beach bags on the market, but look for the mesh version. These are especially great for bringing home toys, booties, and balls from the beach. The advantage is that you leave all the sand on the beach ;)
SWIM DIAPERS
Conventional diapers simply become soggy and unusable in seconds. It's better to use special swim diapers, which are specifically designed for use in cool water.
WET BAG
Since it will be impossible to prevent your child from playing with water at the beach, you will also need a suitable bag for the dripping wet clothes on the car ride afterwards.
WATER
Yes, that's right. Water isn't just important for bathing, but also for rehydrating. Always remember to provide plenty of drinks to keep your baby well hydrated.
CONEFARIAL HAT
Anyone who often works in the garden knows how important a good sun hat is. It protects what is arguably the most important part of your body and can also look really stylish.
WATER SHOES
When the sand is very hot, beach sandals are essential. Water shoes can also be very helpful when dealing with shells, rocks, and coarse sand. All in all, these are a must-have.
BABY POWDER
Our insider tip for a beach trip: Just before heading home, powder all wet or damp spots again, and voila, everything is dry. No more sand sticks, and the car stays mostly clean (assuming that's even possible with a baby).
Family outings can be a great alternative to everyday life. With proper planning, they're not stressful, but rather the wonderful change of pace they're meant to be.
