A new trend is currently emerging from America. Baby shower parties are a thing of the past! Now there are gender reveal parties, and you might be wondering, "What's that?"
It's actually really simple: You have the baby's sex written on a piece of paper at an ultrasound appointment. Of course, you don't look at the paper and give it to your best friend, mother, or someone else close to you.
This person will then ensure that a great way to reveal the gender of the little miracle is found on the day of the party. The sky's the limit. Here are some examples:
- Cake with colored filling that only reveals its color after cutting
- Smoke flares in pink or blue*
- Balloons filled with confetti in blue or pink*
- paint bombs, that the expectant parents throw at themselves in blue or pink*
Here are 3 more games you can play at a gender reveal party.
1. Don't say boy or girl
All guests are not allowed to say "boy" or "girl" during the entire party. Anyone who does so must give up an item they are carrying. Whoever gives up the most loses.
2. Blue and Pink Prediction Game
At the beginning of the party, each guest must choose a ribbon, either blue or pink. The ribbon is then attached to their clothing, thus indicating whether they believe it will be a boy or a girl.
3. Find baby names
The third game can be very interesting for undecided parents. It involves writing at least three baby names on a provided piece of paper that you like or that would suit the parents. Maybe there's something really nice there. And the story of how your baby got its name would also make a great story at any garden party.

*Of course, blue and pink aren't the only colors that can be used; any other colors are also possible. However, these are the most commonly used.
