This term is becoming increasingly common these days. But what does it mean and does it really involve showering?
Baby Shower is a term that is gradually coming to Germany, mainly from America, Canada and England.
It used to be called simply "baby party," but now it's a baby shower. There's no running water, and no one showers; instead, the expectant mother is showered with gifts. It's practically "raining" presents. That's why this party is now called a baby shower.
Shared joy and support for the mom-to-be
A baby shower is a very special way to show your friend how excited you are about the new addition to the family. At the same time, you're making a special someone happy, and the soon-to-be mom can forget her worries for a while. Pregnancy can be stressful and exhausting. This little party is a great time to relax.
Good food should not be missed
A good baby shower requires at least as many snacks and good food. A brunch that lasts for hours is usually planned for the baby shower. Friends who haven't seen each other in a long time gather there. It's often just as entertaining for the guests as it is for the mother.
In most cases, the mom doesn't even know the party is happening. So the shower guests bring everything they need for a great brunch.
But of course there are no rules for this, anything that is fun is allowed.
